We are David and Nicola Holland and we’ve called Southbourne-on-Sea our home for 20 years.

Nicola & David at End of the Road FestivalWe are passionate about our local communities and decided to open The Wight Bear due to our love of real ale, and the need for venue that wasn’t full of fruit machines, loud music, and TVs but instead focused on the important things in life – Good ale, good conversation and good times.

During the successful opening year of The Wight Bear we were repeatedly asked by many people if we would consider opening another Bear in a different area…

So, in mid-2016 we decided to open The Saxon Bear in Christchurch so we could bring the fun of our Bears to another town.

With the opening of a second Bear, we decided to launch our new brand The Bear Beer Family which sits above our Bears.

‘Family’ is important to us both, and we feel that our Bears also have their own families within them as people who have never met before bond over a beer and so the Bear Family grows.

If you pay us a visit, come and say hello – We love a good chat!
