We are super stoked to announce that as of the 31st January 2018, there will be a passionate new owner joining the Dorset micropub community as Lee Price takes over at the location of The Saxon Bear.
Lee approached us earlier this year to ask for our advice as he was thinking of opening a micropub elsewhere in Dorset. After chatting with him it became apparent there was a perfect opening for him to embark on a try-before-you-buy transition and so he joined The Saxon Bear team. We are pleased to say that he has fully caught the bug and has decided to take over the site to launch his own unique and personal style of micropub.
It does mean a much loved Bear will be leaving Christchurch as the signs and name will change, but Lee is as enthusiastic about good beer and micropubs as we are and we’re excited to see him develop and take this wonderful micropub location to the next level.
We opened The Saxon Bear on a wave of frequent requests and feedback from Christchurch residents looking for someone to bring decent beer into the town in the same way that we had with The Wight Bear in Southbourne. We are very proud that we achieved this in less than a year of opening The Wight Bear and built a fantastic little business that has gained a loyal following of regulars who have fully immersed themselves into the huge range of amazingly varied beers and ciders never before seen in Christchurch.
We would like to say a huge heartfelt thank you to EVERYONE who has supported us and hope that you will continue to come in and enjoy the beers throughout this upcoming festive period as we get set for a fun last Christmas for The Saxon Bear before we hand over the reins in the new year.
We will of course continue to support and work collaboratively with Lee during the transfer and wish him every success in the future, and would also like to take this opportunity to say that The Wight Bear is very much alive and kicking and ain’t going anywhere!
David, Nicola and all the team.
